Jeff and Johnny Mosier, known for their progressive bluegrass band Blueground Undergrass, are reuniting as The Mosier Brothers to perform at the iconic Atlanta venue Eddie's Attic. The brothers, who have been making music together since childhood, will be joined by a full band including special guest fiddle player John Mailander for a roots-driven, bluegrass-steeped show that celebrates the enduring power of live music.
Why it matters
The Mosier Brothers represent the evolution of the bluegrass genre, blending traditional elements with experimental and progressive influences. Their performance at Eddie's Attic, a beloved Atlanta music venue, underscores the continued importance of live, community-driven music experiences.
The details
Jeff and Johnny Mosier grew up playing and singing bluegrass music in their hometown of Bristol, Tennessee, inspired by their bluegrass-playing grandmother. After moving to Atlanta in the late 1960s, they formed the traditional bluegrass band Good Medicine and later launched the popular radio show "Born in a Barn" on WRFG. In 1998, they pioneered a new sound by forming the progressive bluegrass band Blueground Undergrass, which merged traditional bluegrass instruments with the energy of rock and roll. Now, as The Mosier Brothers, they are returning to their roots-driven, Americana-infused sound, featuring electric and acoustic banjo, guitars, and a stellar rhythm section.
