Atlanta entrepreneur Akmann Van-Mary's startup Reclaim has partnered with global aviation IT leader SITA to offer a new luggage storage service at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Reclaim picks up travelers' luggage from their home, hotel, or Airbnb, checks it in with the airline, and delivers it to the airport before the passenger arrives, allowing them to skip the luggage drop-off line and go straight to the gate.
Why it matters
This service aims to improve the travel experience by eliminating the hassle of lugging around luggage, especially for passengers on short stays or layovers in Atlanta. It also helps airports like Hartsfield-Jackson manage passenger surges more efficiently, leading to shorter queues, less stress for staff, and smoother journeys for travelers.
The details
Reclaim's 'door-to-destination carousel' model is designed to complement, not replace, existing airport and airline processes. The startup has been operating 'incognito' at the Atlanta airport since December 2025, making Hartsfield-Jackson the first U.S. airport to support baggage flow starting outside the airport. The partnership with SITA, whose technology is used by over 1,000 airports worldwide, will ensure Reclaim's services work seamlessly across all airport and airline environments.
