Palmer Trinity routs Providence to advance to 2A girls' soccer state final

The Palmer Trinity Falcons unleashed an onslaught of first-half goals to blank Jacksonville Providence School 8-0 on Tuesday in a Class 2A girls soccer state semifinal. The mercy rule was invoked at the half and Palmer advanced into the FHSAA 2A state championship game, where they will face West Palm Beach King's Academy.
Why it matters
This is Palmer Trinity's first state final appearance since 2012, when they finished as the 1A state runners-up. The Falcons are seeking their first state championship in program history.
The details
Palmer Trinity (18-2-1) picked up two goals apiece from Scarlett Baur, Brooklyn Schiffrin and Carol Egea Guimaraes, with Baur adding four assists. Lila Algrin and Gaby Feetham also scored in the dominant victory. Head coach Effie Dieke praised her team's positioning, trapping, and ability to win the ball at midfield and attack down the wings.
