On Saturday, the Stanford men's basketball team fell to Florida State on the road by a final score of 88-80. Florida State junior forward Chauncey Wiggins had a career-high 23 points to lead the Seminoles, while Stanford freshman point guard Ebuka Okorie was the top performer for the Cardinal with 26 points and four assists.
Why it matters
This was a disappointing loss for Stanford, as they never really got into the game and played catch-up the entire time. With one of their key players, Chisom Okpara, out for the season, the Cardinal will need other players to step up and fill that void.
The details
Florida State jumped out to an early lead and maintained it throughout the game. The Seminoles were led by Chauncey Wiggins' career-high 23 points, as well as strong performances from senior guard Robert McCray V (19 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists) and senior guard Lajae Jones (18 points, 5 rebounds). Stanford's Ebuka Okorie had a team-high 26 points, but the Cardinal couldn't overcome the deficit.

— Ben Parker, Cardinal Sports Report Writer
What’s next
Stanford will look to bounce back in an important homestand against Clemson and Georgia Tech, with the first game against Clemson on Wednesday, February 4th at 7:00 PM PT on ACC Network.
The takeaway
This loss is a disappointing one for Stanford, as they were never really able to get into the game and mount a serious comeback against a Florida State team that proved to be too much for them on the road. The Cardinal will need to regroup and get more production from players beyond just Ebuka Okorie if they want to turn things around and make a push in the ACC.
