Sophomore guard Lexi Blue plans to enter the transfer portal once the window opens on April 7, according to a report from On3's Talia Goodman. Blue, a former four-star recruit, has appeared in 51 games over the past two seasons for the Wildcats, averaging 1.9 points and 1.2 rebounds in 10.1 minutes per game.
Why it matters
Blue's decision to transfer is the first of what could be several departures for the Kentucky women's basketball team this offseason. The Wildcats are expected to lose several key players to graduation, including starters Tonie Morgan, Teonni Key, and Amelia Hassett, as well as depth piece Josie Gilvin.
The details
Blue, a 6-foot-2 guard, showed flashes of potential as a true freshman in 2024-25, but only played 20 or more minutes twice and failed to score in double digits in any of her 23 games played. Going into her sophomore campaign, it felt like a make-or-break season, and Blue was a regular in the rotation early on, posting a career-high 18 points in Kentucky's second game of the season. However, her minutes dipped once SEC play came around, and she shot just 30.8 percent across 12 conference games, averaging under one point per contest. Blue did not take the floor in any of Kentucky's three NCAA Tournament games.
