Virtuix and UCF Unveil Humanoid Robot Controlled by Omni One Treadmill

New system allows natural movement and enhanced operator experience for teleoperation and AI training.

Published on Feb. 25, 2026

Virtuix Inc. has announced a collaboration with the University of Central Florida's Institute for Simulation & Training to demonstrate a humanoid robot that can be steered in real-time using Virtuix's Omni One omni-directional treadmill. The system, which includes a "vDen" projection environment, allows the human operator to walk and move naturally in any direction while the robot mirrors that movement, addressing a key limitation in human robot teleoperation.

Why it matters

This technology has important applications in defense, research, and industrial settings where natural movement and enhanced operator comfort are crucial for effective teleoperation and physical AI training of humanoid robots.

The details

The Omni One's 360-degree movement platform enables the human operator to control the humanoid robot's movements without boundaries. The vDen projection system surrounds the operator with a visual environment, providing a more immersive and intuitive experience compared to traditional head-mounted displays. Virtuix also announced a partnership with 1HMX on the production of the Nexus NX1, a full-body system that integrates the Omni One Enterprise treadmill with HaptX Gloves G1 to deliver lifelike tactile and force feedback, further enhancing the operator's sensory experience.
