Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin Buys $50M Miami Beach Mansion

The new-construction property on Allison Island has 200 feet of ocean frontage but is too small for Brin's 466-foot megayacht.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin has purchased a $50 million oceanfront home on Miami Beach's exclusive Allison Island. The 10,000-square-foot property, which was completed in 2019, features 200 feet of ocean frontage on a nearly one-acre double lot. However, the home is too small to accommodate Brin's 466-foot, $450 million megayacht Dragonfly.

Why it matters

This purchase is the latest example of California billionaires flocking to Miami in search of new homes, drawn by Florida's lack of state income tax. It also comes shortly after reports that Brin's Google co-founder Larry Page has bought several homes in nearby Coconut Grove.

The details

Brin's offer for the Allison Road home was first reported by The Real Deal and has since been accepted, though the deal has not yet closed. The seller is LVMH Americas chairman and CEO Michael Burke, who bought the property as a teardown for $11.7 million in 2014. The home features a 'Guggenheim style' architectural staircase and ample wall space for art display, though some sources say it is 'not nearly nice enough for one of the world's richest people.'
