We review the My Father Blue in the Toro size, which marked the beginning of a new chapter for My Father Cigars as their first release out of their Honduran factory using tobaccos from their Honduran farm, Finca La Opulencia. The 'Blue' in My Father Blue pays homage to the blue colors in the flag of Honduras.

Why it matters

My Father Cigars is now operating factories in three countries - Nicaragua, Miami, and the new Honduras factory in the El Pariiaso region, signaling the company's expansion and diversification of tobacco sources.

The details

The My Father Blue features a Connecticut Broadleaf Rosado wrapper, with a Honduran binder and filler tobaccos from the Garcia Family's Finca La Opulencia farm. The cigar is offered in four box-pressed sizes. In the Toro size, the cigar opened with notes of mocha, earth, wood, white pepper, and honey sweetness, with the mocha and wood notes becoming most prominent as the cigar progressed.

  • The My Father Blue made its debut at the 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show.
  • Word of the Garcia family (owners of My Father Cigars) going into Honduras surfaced in 2024.

The takeaway

My Father Cigars' expansion into Honduras with the new My Father Blue cigar represents the company's diversification of tobacco sources and manufacturing capabilities, though the initial Toro size release did not fully live up to the high expectations set by some of the brand's other premium offerings.
