After the beloved Wilton Creamery closed on Wilton Drive due to high rents, theater producer Frank Spadea quickly leased the space and opened Jazzberry Creamery in its place. The new shop retains some former Wilton Creamery employees and the industrial loft-style look, while adding upgrades like new freezer cases, digital menu boards, and an upstairs DJ booth. Jazzberry Creamery plans to offer a similarly whimsical and adult-oriented vibe, with flavors and toppings like Insta Graham, Bear Claw, and Eyes Wide Open.
Why it matters
The closure of Wilton Creamery, a long-time community staple, was a blow to the Wilton Manors neighborhood. Jazzberry Creamery's quick takeover of the space and efforts to maintain the spirit of the previous business show a commitment to preserving the local character of Wilton Drive, which has seen increasing commercial turnover in recent years.
The details
Jazzberry Creamery has rehired three former Wilton Creamery employees, including new general manager Quinton Welsh. The shop retains the industrial loft-style look of its predecessor, with upgrades like new freezer cases, digital menu boards, clubby purple track lighting, purple epoxy floors, and an upstairs DJ booth. The walls are adorned with cheeky art prints, and the shop aims to be "even more campy" than Wilton Creamery, with playful flavor and topping names. Jazzberry sources its premium 14% butterfat ice cream from Ice Cream Club Inc. in Boynton Beach, and offers 52 flavors, floats, warm desserts, and coffee drinks.
- Wilton Creamery closed on Christmas Eve 2025.
- Jazzberry Creamery opened on February 5, 2026.

Quinton Welsh
The new general manager of Jazzberry Creamery, who was previously an employee at Wilton Creamery.
Ice Cream Club Inc.

What they’re saying
“I had to act pretty fast. I didn't want something else going in and for the community to lose a nice ice cream shop. Ours will be a little different. We're selling pints and quarts and sundaes and shakes, just like Wilton Creamery, but under different names. Most people will find what they were accustomed to.”
— Frank Spadea, Owner, Jazzberry Creamery (Sun Sentinel)
“We're playing with the names and generally trying to be even more campy. This shop is meant to be more irreverent and adult-like.”
— Frank Spadea, Owner, Jazzberry Creamery (Sun Sentinel)
“I just want to keep the place going. If I make a profit, fine. I'm not here to capitalize on things. I just want a nice place for people on the Drive to visit.”
— Frank Spadea, Owner, Jazzberry Creamery (Sun Sentinel)
What’s next
Jazzberry Creamery plans to eventually sell a differently named version of Wilton Creamery's fan-favorite "He's Not Worth It" flavor.
The takeaway
Jazzberry Creamery's quick takeover of the former Wilton Creamery space and efforts to maintain the spirit of the previous business show a commitment to preserving the local character of Wilton Drive, which has seen increasing commercial turnover in recent years. The new shop's whimsical and adult-oriented vibe aims to continue serving the Wilton Manors community.
