According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a call around noon on Tuesday reporting an adult male with gunshot wounds in the front yard of a residence in a gated community. When deputies entered the home, they found four additional adult victims, two male and two female, pronounced dead on the scene. One of the male victims was the suspect, 51-year-old Russell Kot. Authorities later learned that Kot had been in a previous romantic relationship with one of the victims in a double homicide that Fort Lauderdale police were investigating, and that victim was also connected to the four people shot in Sarasota.
