According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Nocifora first tried to steal the septic tank using his Toyota Corolla, but was unable to properly load it onto his car. He then returned a few days later with a rented U-Haul truck, loaded the septic tank and around $2,500 worth of electrical pipes, and attempted to obscure the truck's license plate and identification number before driving off. Detectives were able to identify Nocifora and arrest him in a neighboring county, charging him with grand theft, unlawful use of a two-way device, and intentionally obscuring a license plate during the commission of a crime.
