TCU women's basketball has landed a major transfer commitment from Stanford freshman forward Lara Somfai. The 6-foot-3 Australian averaged 10.8 points and 9.1 rebounds per game while shooting 40.9% from the floor during her first season with the Cardinal. Somfai, who started all 32 games for Stanford in 2025-26, will fill a frontcourt vacancy left by the graduation of All-Big 12 player Marta Suarez.

Why it matters

Somfai's transfer is a significant addition for TCU as they look to rebuild after back-to-back Elite Eight runs. The young forward projects as an immediate starter who can complement sophomore center Clara Silva in the Horned Frogs' frontcourt.

Somfai, a native of Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, attended IMG Academy in Florida before joining Stanford. As a freshman, she was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team and earned four ACC Rookie of the Week honors. She was also named the USBWA National Freshman of the Week in late November.
