One of the most popular pizzerias in Philadelphia, Angelo's Pizzeria, is expanding to Wilmington, Delaware, taking over the space previously occupied by Pizzeria Bardea in the DE.CO food hall. Angelo's will now offer its acclaimed pizzas, including full-size pies and potentially individual slices, in addition to the cheesesteaks it has been serving at the market since last year.
Why it matters
The arrival of Angelo's Pizzeria in Wilmington is a major coup for the city, bringing one of the most renowned pizza destinations in the region to the DE.CO food hall. This move not only satisfies local demand for Angelo's famous pies, but also fills the void left by the closure of the popular Pizzeria Bardea, which was a lunchtime favorite among downtown workers.
The details
Angelo's Pizzeria, which has a Michelin recognition and a 9.1 rating from Barstool Sports' Dave Portnoy, will be replacing Pizzeria Bardea at the DE.CO food hall. The new Angelo's location will feature a full menu of 16-inch round, square, Grandma, and upside-down pizzas, as well as potentially offering individual slices for the first time. The dough will be made at the same Conshohocken facility that supplies the flagship Angelo's Pizzeria in South Philadelphia.
- Pizzeria Bardea closed in late February 2026.
- Angelo's Pizzeria is expected to start selling pizzas at the DE.CO food hall by the end of March 2026.
