The Internal Revenue Service has announced that select Taxpayer Assistance Centers across the United States will be open on special Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through the end of June. The next Saturday opening is scheduled for March 28. Taxpayers can visit IRS.gov to find a list of participating locations and the services offered during these extended hours.
Why it matters
The IRS is providing these special Saturday hours to give taxpayers more opportunities to receive in-person assistance with their tax questions and needs during the busy filing season. This is especially helpful for those who may have difficulty visiting a Taxpayer Assistance Center during regular weekday business hours.
The details
In addition to the special Saturday hours, the IRS is also extending the weekday hours at more than 200 Taxpayer Assistance Centers nationwide through April 30. Taxpayers can use the IRS website's Contact Your Local Office tool to find their nearest TAC location and see if it is offering extended hours.
