The Weston boys swimming team won the CIAC Class S state championship, securing their 22nd state title in program history and 20th in Class S. Weston scored 579 points to 496 for runner-up Watertown, with Northwestern finishing third. The Trojans trailed Watertown after seven events but took control in the 500 freestyle and went on to dominate the breaststroke events to pull away for the victory.
Why it matters
Weston is a perennial powerhouse in Connecticut high school swimming, and this latest championship continues the program's long tradition of excellence. The win is especially meaningful for the team's large senior class, who were determined to end their careers on top after finishing third last year.
The details
Weston trailed Watertown 302-286 after seven events, but the tide shifted in the 500 freestyle where junior Will Harrington won the event and freshman Robert Winslow took fifth, giving the Trojans 54 team points compared to just 31 for Watertown. Weston then dominated the 100 breaststroke 70-24 to put the meet away. Harrington also won the 200 freestyle, while Lakeview's Elias Krukar and Bolton's David Korzeniowski were double individual event winners.
- The CIAC Class S boys swimming championships were held on Monday, March 9, 2026 at the Cornerstone Aquatics Center in West Hartford.

What they’re saying
“The guys really have worked hard all season. They came into it really wanting this one after getting third place last year and being just out of getting the hardware on everything.”
— Brandon Barone, Weston head coach
“No better feeling, especially with all the seniors leaving. We had a lot of seniors on our team. It's like half our team is seniors, and with all of them leaving, winning that was a really good way to go out as well.”
— Will Harrington
“I think my performances were strong. We're not at the end of our taper yet. We're tapering for Opens, so we should be going faster there.”
— Elias Krukar, Lakeview senior
“For the second year that we've been a school, coming in fourth, that's a big accomplishment.”
— Elias Krukar, Lakeview senior
What’s next
The CIAC Open Championships, the final meet of the high school swimming season, will be held in the coming weeks where the top swimmers from across the state will compete.
The takeaway
Weston's boys swimming program continues to be a dominant force in Connecticut, winning its 22nd state championship and 20th in the Class S division. The Trojans overcame a deficit at the midpoint of the meet to pull away for a convincing victory, led by standout individual performances and a deep, talented roster.
