The UConn Huskies men's basketball program will honor one of the best players in its history, as former center Hasheem Thabeet will be inducted into the Huskies of Honor on February 14 at halftime of the team's game against Georgetown. Thabeet, a two-time National Defensive Player of the Year, will become the 24th individual player to join the prestigious group.

Thabeet, who didn't start playing basketball until age 15 while growing up in Tanzania, made an immediate impact at UConn, earning Big East All-Freshman Team honors in 2007. He then blossomed into a star, winning Big East Defensive Player of the Year awards in 2008 and 2009 while also being named the Co-Big East Player of the Year as a junior. Thabeet finished his UConn career averaging a double-double with 10.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.2 blocks per game.
