4 Displaced After Chimney Fire at Norwalk Home

A fire broke out in the chimney of a 1.5-story wood frame home in Norwalk, Connecticut on Saturday evening. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, which had spread to an interior wall and a bedroom. Four people were displaced as a result of the fire, but no injuries were reported.

According to Assistant Chief Timothy Reardon, crews were called to the West Rocks Road home just before 8 p.m. on Saturday after receiving a report of a chimney fire. When firefighters arrived, they found fire coming from the top of the enclosed wooden chimney box on the outside of the home. Crews worked to quickly extinguish the blaze outside the home, and also put out fire that had made its way inside the home into an interior wall and a bedroom. Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately two hours to ensure complete extinguishment.
