The Montezuma-Cortez High School girls soccer team is poised for continued success after a standout 2025 season that saw them earn a home playoff game. Head coach Melody Harris is focused on building upon that foundation, with a roster that features a mix of experienced underclassmen and new talent.
Why it matters
The Panthers' strong 2025 campaign, in which nearly 75% of their goals came from underclassmen, has raised expectations for the program. As they look to challenge for an Intermountain League title, their ability to blend young scorers with a veteran defensive core will be crucial.
The details
Sophomore Mia Glazner, the team's leading returning scorer, will lead the attack alongside classmate Kyndall Schmitt. Freshman Emilynn Hill also adds speed to the forward line. In the midfield, juniors Kaybree Smith and sophomores Jordyn Erautt and Amani Lobato provide experience, while the defense features senior Camryn Oliver and juniors Ivy Gray and Sadie Maxwell. Freshman Raya Hall will contribute to the back four, protecting second-year starting goalkeeper Raegan Veach.
- The Panthers recently faced Ridgway on March 17, falling 4-2 despite goals from Schmitt and Hill.
- They will host Telluride on March 26, followed by a series of road games.
- League play begins April 3 against Alamosa, the 2025 Intermountain League champion.
- The Panthers will host Bayfield on April 7 for their home league opener.
- Senior Day is scheduled for April 18, coinciding with their final home game against Pagosa Springs.
