For the past 45 years, our nation has celebrated the achievements of African Americans and their unmatched influence in U.S. history during Black History Month in February. In southern Colorado, local organizations are hosting a variety of events and activities throughout the month to spotlight Black history and encourage residents to explore the stories that shaped the community.

Some of the key Black History Month events happening in Colorado Springs and Pueblo include the 31st Annual Black History Month Kick-Off Fair hosted by the African American Historical & Genealogical Society, Black History Month Tours at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, the 13th Annual Multi-Cultural Black History Event organized by We R OneBody, and the 3rd Annual Black History Month Community Read-In at Otero Elementary School. In Pueblo, the Proclaiming Colorado's Black History exhibit will be on display from January 19 to June 19.
