Tilray Brands Inc., a New York-based cannabis, lifestyle, wellness and packaged goods company, has acquired the strategic assets of BrewDog in the United States. The acquisition includes BrewDog's U.S. manufacturing and brewing operation in Columbus, three owned pubs in Ohio (Columbus, Cleveland and New Albany), one hotel in Columbus, a brewpub in Las Vegas, a franchised BrewDog location in Denver, and a licensed BrewDog location in the John Glenn Columbus International Airport.

Why it matters

The acquisition strengthens Tilray's U.S. beverage platform and advances the company's regional craft beer strategy across North America. BrewDog's Cleveland location in the Flats has been a popular destination since opening in late 2021, featuring a large riverfront patio and over two dozen taps of BrewDog and local craft beers.

The details

Under the agreement, Tilray Brands will acquire the BrewDog brand and its intellectual property worldwide. Tilray Beverages, a division of Tilray Brands, already owns a variety of craft breweries across the U.S., including 10 Barrel Brewing, Alpine Beer, Atwater Brewery, and Sweetwater Brewing Co. However, none of Tilray's existing breweries are based in Ohio.

  • BrewDog opened its first U.S. location in Columbus in 2017.
  • BrewDog's Cleveland outpost in the Flats opened in late 2021.
