A fleet of 'Freedom Trucks' are traveling across the United States to celebrate the country's 250th anniversary. The six mobile museums feature exhibits on the American Revolution and the nation's founding, including digital interactives, a 'Wall of American Heroes', and the opportunity to virtually sign the Declaration of Independence. The trucks are a joint project between the conservative educational platforms PragerU and Hillsdale College, and were made possible by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Why it matters
The Freedom Trucks are part of a broader effort to commemorate America's semiquincentennial, or 250th birthday, through various events and celebrations. The trucks aim to educate the public on the country's revolutionary history and founding documents, reflecting a conservative perspective on these topics.
The details
The Freedom Trucks include exhibits that 'recounts how 13 colonies declared independence, defeated the greatest empire in the world, and secured American sovereignty 250 years ago.' They also 'highlight the great people, events and places associated with the Revolution and formational years of our nation.' The trucks feature digital interactives, a 'Wall of American Heroes', and the ability for visitors to virtually add their signature to the Declaration of Independence. In addition to the trucks, a 'Freedom Plane' carrying seven original founding documents will fly to eight U.S. cities starting in March.
- The Freedom Trucks were most recently on display at the Florida State Fair in Tampa and the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Nashville.
- The trucks will be at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton through Monday, February 23.
- Upcoming stops include Batesburg-Leesville High School in South Carolina (March 1-4), Seven Oaks Elementary in South Carolina (March 5-6), the Maricopa County Fair in Phoenix (April 3-12), and several events in North Carolina and Michigan in April.
