The Crested Butte Titans boys' basketball team defeated the Sargent Farmers 46-36 in their final regular season game. The Titans jumped out to an early 15-1 lead in the first quarter and maintained control throughout the game, despite a late surge by the Farmers in the fourth quarter.
Why it matters

“We watched film of our defense and really worked on defense the whole week leading up to the game. We didn't work much on offense so during pregame we talked about patience on offense. Taking care of the ball and hunting for shots.”
— Mike Bacani, Head Coach (crestedbuttenews.com)
“They recognize at this point in the season what needs to happen, and they executed that.”

“We had changed our defense and went to a zone to practice it, and it was evident we need to work on that more. We were just out of position a little bit and they got hot.”

What’s next
The Titans will face the 2nd seeded Sierra Grande Panthers in the first round of the league tournament on Tuesday, February 24. Winning two of their three tournament games would greatly benefit the Titans' state 2A ranking and chances of advancing to the regional portion of the state tournament.
