Energy Vault Partners with Data Center Firms to Boost Battery Storage

The energy storage company is capitalizing on the AI data center building boom with new partnerships.

Published on Feb. 23, 2026

Energy Vault Holdings Inc., a Westlake Village-based energy storage provider, has announced two new partnerships to deploy its battery storage technology and software for AI data center projects. The first deal is with Peak Energy, a Colorado-based company, to use Energy Vault's battery management system with Peak's sodium-ion battery storage. The second partnership is with Denver-based Crusoe Inc., which builds AI data centers in locations with abundant and cheap electricity, to provide modular 'powered shell' infrastructure for fast deployment. Energy Vault also recently closed a $135 million financing transaction.

Why it matters

The rapid growth of AI and data centers is exposing limitations in conventional power infrastructure, creating demand for more flexible and efficient energy storage solutions. Energy Vault's partnerships with data center companies allow it to capitalize on this trend and expand the reach of its battery storage technology.

The details

Under the Peak Energy partnership, Energy Vault will supply software management tools for 1.5 gigawatt hours of Peak Energy's sodium-ion battery storage systems. Sodium-ion batteries are more abundant and better suited for the variable power demands of AI data centers compared to the industry standard lithium-ion. The Crusoe partnership will see Energy Vault provide modular 'powered shell' infrastructure to enable fast, repeatable deployment of electrical and mechanical systems for Crusoe's AI data centers, starting with a site in Snyder, Texas.
