Radia Showcases World's Largest Aircraft at Singapore Air Show

WindRunner™ designed to transport oversized cargo without specialized infrastructure

Jan. 27, 2026 at 9:17am

Radia, the developer of the WindRunner™ aircraft, is showcasing its new approach to commercial air cargo at the Singapore Air Show. The WindRunner is designed to transport extremely large payloads, such as complete widebody fuselage sections, massive jet engines, and oversized power transformers, that exceed the capabilities of existing air cargo solutions. With over 6,800 cubic meters of usable cargo space and the ability to operate from semi-prepared runways, the WindRunner aims to expand access and reduce the complexity of transporting outsized cargo.

Why it matters

As global supply chains increasingly depend on outsized, high-value systems, existing air cargo solutions are reaching their limits. The WindRunner addresses this challenge by enabling airlift for cargo previously considered too large to fly, unlocking new possibilities for the transportation of large-scale industrial, aerospace, and energy infrastructure components.

The details

The WindRunner is being developed under a civil certification pathway using proven, certified components to support reliable and repeatable operations at scale. Radia plans to operate the WindRunner through a transport-as-a-service model, providing flexible capacity to commercial operators, governments, and humanitarian organizations. The platform supports a wide range of missions, including project and industrial cargo, aerospace and space systems transport, energy infrastructure components, and logistics into remote or infrastructure-constrained regions.

  • Radia announced a collaboration with Maximus Air to explore WindRunner's potential in 2025.
  • The first flight of the WindRunner is targeted by the end of the decade.

What they’re saying

“Commercial cargo requirements have outgrown the logistics systems built to support them. WindRunner expands what is possible for air cargo operators by removing long-standing constraints on size, access, and complexity. This is what is needed for existing industry, and it will also unlock many additional huge products that are currently constrained by transportation limitations.”

What’s next

Radia is currently progressing through detailed design and supplier integration, with first flight targeted by the end of the decade.

The takeaway

The WindRunner represents a significant advancement in commercial air cargo capabilities, enabling the transport of oversized and high-value payloads that were previously considered too large to fly. This innovation has the potential to unlock new possibilities for the movement of large-scale industrial, aerospace, and energy infrastructure components, while reducing the complexity and infrastructure requirements of such cargo operations.
