Bayfield High School senior Justin Westbrook led the Wolverines' wrestling team with a fifth-place finish in the 175-pound division at the CHSAA Class 3A State Championships in Denver. Westbrook went 3-2 over the three-day tournament, bouncing back from a semifinal loss to claim fifth place. Bayfield junior Connor Martindale also competed for fifth place in the 126-pound division but came up short, while seniors Reese Appenzeller (144 pounds) and the school's girls wrestling trio of Elly Coey, Jade Kehoe and Violet Christner gained valuable state tournament experience.

In the 175-pound division, Westbrook lost via 15-0 technical fall in the semifinals to Valley's Rocky Hoffschneider, but rebounded to defeat Loveland Resurrection Christian's Josh Stockton 5-2 in the fifth-place match. Martindale went 3-3 at 126 pounds, while Appenzeller went 0-2 at 144 pounds. On the girls' side, Coey (120 pounds) and Kehoe (140) each won one match, while Christner (100) went 0-2.
