Northstar Community Services District and Placer County Expand Martis Valley Trail to 5.75 Miles

The completed segment connects Northstar Village to the Town of Truckee, enhancing regional connectivity and access.

Placer County and the Northstar Community Services District have announced the completion of Segment 3F of the Martis Valley Trail, adding 1.23 miles of Class 1 Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible trail. The new segment includes four bridges, over a half mile of rock walls, and a 50-foot boardwalk, closing a mile-long gap between Northstar's Castle Peak parking lots and Northstar Village.

Why it matters

The Martis Valley Trail is a key component of the Resort Triangle Trail, an ambitious regional system that will ultimately include 62 miles of paved trails connecting several communities in the North Lake Tahoe area. The completed segment improves safety, expands recreation opportunities, and strengthens connections between the communities.

The details

In just one construction season, the Northstar Community Services District and C&D Contractors installed four bridges, established more than a half mile of rock walls, added a 50-foot boardwalk, and completed paving for 1.23 miles of the trail. The new segment connects the previously constructed 4.6-mile section of the Martis Valley Trail, which first opened in August 2022.
