Error in 9th inning leads to 2-1 loss against San Mateo

College of Marin's baseball team fell 2-1 to San Mateo in their season debut on Tuesday at Kentfield. An error to lead off the top of the ninth inning led to the decisive run for San Mateo, who tied the game in the fifth inning on an unearned run. Mariners starter Chaz Veley had a strong outing, striking out three and walking two in 4 1/3 innings, but reliever David Skaggs took the loss.
