Why it matters

The details

Originally constructed in the 1920s as the Santa Barbara School of the Arts, the roughly 33,000-square-foot Palihouse property was reimagined as a boutique hotel in 2021. The Spanish Colonial Revival-style building features 24 rooms and suites arranged around a landscaped courtyard and pool, along with an on-site café and bar. The $16.75 million sale price, or roughly $698,000 per room, was financed with approximately $13.5 million in debt.
