Redwood, Branson athletes shine at Bay Area Sprint Extravaganza

Branson School takes first in two events, Redwood senior Marco Cleary has standout performance

Athletes from the Branson School took first place in two events at Saturday's Bay Area Sprint Extravaganza in Oakland, while Redwood High senior Marco Cleary had a stellar afternoon with personal-best performances in multiple events.

Branson sophomore Griffin Harris won the discus with a throw of 124 feet, 1 inch, while Redwood senior Max Hewlette placed third. Hewlette also took fourth in the shot put. Branson freshman Ilo Geretz won the high jump by clearing 6 feet, 1 inch, a personal best. On the girls' side, Redwood junior Annalise Horn won the triple jump and long jump, and Redwood junior Vivienne Fitzgerald won the pole vault.
