NVIDIA Launches BlueField-4 STX Storage Architecture With Broad Industry Adoption

New modular reference architecture enables accelerated storage infrastructure for agentic AI

Mar. 16, 2026 at 8:16pm

NVIDIA has announced the NVIDIA BlueField-4 STX, a modular reference architecture that allows enterprises, cloud providers, and AI companies to easily deploy storage infrastructure capable of supporting the high-context reasoning required for agentic AI. The STX architecture, accelerated by the NVIDIA Vera Rubin platform, provides up to 5x token throughput and up to 4x energy efficiency compared to traditional storage solutions, enabling AI systems to operate at peak performance.

Why it matters

Agentic AI, which involves AI systems that reason across massive context and continuously learn, requires a new class of storage infrastructure that can keep up with the high-performance and responsiveness demands. The NVIDIA STX architecture reinvents the storage stack to provide a modular foundation for AI-native infrastructure, helping AI factories deliver higher throughput and responsiveness across inference, training, and analytics.

The details

The STX reference architecture includes the new NVIDIA CMX context memory storage platform, which expands GPU memory with a high-performance context layer for scalable inference and agentic systems. This provides up to 5x tokens per second compared to traditional storage. The STX architecture is powered by the NVIDIA Vera Rubin platform and a new storage-optimized NVIDIA BlueField-4 processor that combines the NVIDIA Vera CPU with NVIDIA ConnectX-9 SuperNIC, NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet networking, NVIDIA DOCA, and NVIDIA AI Enterprise software. This enables 4x higher energy efficiency and 2x faster data ingestion compared to traditional CPU architectures.
