Two Pitchers Brewing Co.'s commitment to providing high-quality, affordable craft beer is reflected in this minimalist still life.San Francisco TodayTwo Pitchers Brewing Co., a popular Oakland brewery known for its $3 craft beers on tap, is expanding to San Francisco with a new taproom opening on April 22 in the Outer Sunset neighborhood. The brewery is collaborating with the Maillards smash burgers pop-up to create a one-stop-shop of affordable bites and brews near Ocean Beach.
Why it matters
In a city with rising costs of living, Two Pitchers is bucking the trend by offering craft beer at Costco-like prices, aiming to create an inclusive space where anyone can feel comfortable. The new taproom continues the brewery's mission to provide high-quality, affordable beverages in a community-focused setting.
The details
Two Pitchers Brewing Co. is opening its second taproom at 3821 Noriega St., directly across from the popular Devil's Teeth Baking Co. The new space will feature the brewery's signature craft radlers, lager-based beers mixed with citrus or other fruit juices, as well as a menu of smash burgers from the Maillards pop-up. Co-owners Tommy Hester and Wilson Barr are confident their $3 Baseline Lager will be the cheapest beer in town, even though they only break even on that price point.

What they’re saying
“When we started, that was a really big focal point of ours — cheap beer. We said, 'We could price this at five bucks, six bucks, and even that would be pretty good.' But we thought, 'You know what? We really want this to be something that brings people in and it's different from what other folks are doing.'”
— Tommy Hester, Co-owner, Two Pitchers Brewing Co.
“We want anybody to be able to come in here and feel comfortable and feel appreciated. And so we thought, 'Well, let's put our money where our mouth is. Let's do something that is affordable in an area that's getting less and less affordable by the day.'”
— Tommy Hester, Co-owner, Two Pitchers Brewing Co.
