GitLab has released version 18.11 of its DevSecOps platform, expanding the use of agentic AI across the software development lifecycle. Key updates include Agentic SAST Vulnerability Resolution, which automatically generates code fixes for security vulnerabilities, as well as new agents for quickly setting up CI pipelines and providing visual analytics on delivery metrics.

Why it matters

As AI-generated code outpaces the ability of surrounding systems to keep up, GitLab is using agentic AI to address key bottlenecks in security, pipeline configuration, and delivery analytics. These new capabilities aim to help organizations ship code faster while maintaining security and operational efficiency.

The details

The Agentic SAST Vulnerability Resolution feature can now automatically generate ready-to-merge code fixes to address confirmed security vulnerabilities, helping developers remediate issues before they reach production. GitLab also introduced two new agents for its Duo Agent Platform: the CI Expert Agent, which can propose a working CI pipeline in minutes, and the Data Analyst Agent, which provides visual answers to natural language questions about delivery metrics. Additionally, GitLab added subscription-level and per-user spending caps for its GitLab Credits system, giving organizations more control over the costs of deploying AI-powered features.
