Taiwanese airline Starlux is set to expand its luxury cabin offerings with the introduction of 18 new Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. The new A350-1000 configuration will feature 40 business-class seats, up from 26 on Starlux's current A350-900 fleet. The aircraft will also add 30 economy-class seats, bringing the total to 270 in coach. Starlux, which calls itself a 'boutique international airline,' is known for selling business-class tickets on short and medium-haul flights at roughly $1,500, with some longer routes like San Francisco to Taipei offering round-trip business-class fares as low as $2,600.
Why it matters
Starlux's expansion of its premium cabin offerings on the A350-1000 reflects a broader industry trend among full-service carriers to focus more on luxury seat products as economy class prices have generally fallen. The new aircraft will allow Starlux to further differentiate itself in the market and cater to the growing demand for premium air travel, especially on routes connecting Taiwan and Asia with the United States.
The details
Starlux's A350-1000 configuration features several premium amenities, including semi-private business-class suites with 24-inch screens, fully reclining seats, and a 'Zero G' function inspired by NASA technology. The four first-class seats also include personal closets and 36-inch screens. While the business and first-class cabins are not separated by a curtain or wall, the economy-class section has been updated with misaligned seat rows.
