Starlux Airlines, a rapidly growing Taiwan-based airline, has announced plans to launch its first European destination with 3-4 weekly flights between Taipei and Prague starting in August 2026. The 5,611-mile route will be operated by the carrier's Airbus A350-900 aircraft, offering a mix of first, business, premium economy, and economy class seating.

Why it matters

This new Prague route marks Starlux's first destination in Europe, as the airline has so far focused its long-haul network on North America. The move reflects Starlux's ambitions to expand its global footprint and compete with Taiwan's other major carriers, China Airlines and EVA Air, which already serve the Prague market.

The details

Starlux's new Taipei-Prague flights will operate with the following schedule: JX101 Taipei to Prague departing 12:10AM arriving 7:50AM, and JX102 Prague to Taipei departing 10:20AM arriving 5:10AM (+1 day). The route will initially run 3 times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, before increasing to 4 weekly flights in October 2026 with the addition of Mondays.

  • Starlux Airlines will launch the new Taipei-Prague route on August 1, 2026.
  • The flight frequency will increase from 3 times weekly to 4 times weekly starting October 1, 2026.

What’s next

Starlux Airlines Chairman Chang Kuo-wei suggested that Milan could be the next European airport on the carrier's radar for expansion.

The takeaway

Starlux Airlines' decision to launch flights to Prague, rather than a more traditional European hub, reflects the carrier's strategy to differentiate itself and capitalize on growing demand for travel between Taiwan and the Czech Republic. This move also signals Starlux's ambitions to establish itself as a global player, competing with Taiwan's other major airlines.
