Nordstrom announced plans to open two additional Nordstrom Local service hubs in California, including a 1,190-square-foot location in San Diego's Carmel Valley neighborhood. The new Nordstrom Local sites will offer services like online order pickup, returns, alterations, and donations, but will not have a traditional retail store. Nordstrom currently has four other Nordstrom Local locations across the state.

Why it matters

The expansion of Nordstrom's smaller-format service hubs reflects the company's strategy to evolve alongside changing consumer shopping habits and bring more convenience to customers in key markets like California. As traditional department stores face challenges, Nordstrom is adapting its physical footprint to focus more on services and personalized experiences.

The details

The new Nordstrom Local One Paseo location in San Diego is scheduled to open on June 4, 2026, while another Nordstrom Local is planned for Danville, California, also opening in June. These service hubs will offer customers the ability to pick up online orders, make returns, get alterations, and donate gently used clothing and shoes, which will then be distributed to local nonprofits. Nordstrom currently has four other Nordstrom Local sites across California in Brentwood, Newport Beach, Manhattan Beach, and Fillmore.
