Dax Hall, a senior point guard at Santa Fe Christian High School in San Diego, is the county's leading scorer at 27.1 points per game. But he also averages 7.7 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 3.5 steals per game, showcasing his all-around skills. Hall's team is 25-3 and seeded No. 1 in the San Diego Section Open Division playoffs, and he is focused on winning a championship rather than just putting up big individual numbers.
Why it matters
Hall's ability to impact the game in multiple ways, not just as a scorer, makes him a special player who can elevate his teammates. His team-first mentality and high basketball IQ have helped Santa Fe Christian become one of the top teams in the San Diego area.
The details
Hall has nine games this season with at least 30 points, including a career-high 42 against Cathedral Catholic. He is the younger brother of former San Diego Section Player of the Year Jake Hall, who is now a freshman at the University of New Mexico. Dax Hall could become just the 23rd player in San Diego Section history to score 2,000 career points if the Eagles make a deep playoff run.
- Hall started playing at Santa Fe Christian as a pre-kindergartner.
- He scored just 69 points as a freshman before making a leap as a sophomore, averaging 14.7 points per game.
- Hall averaged 20.7 points per game as a junior and is now averaging 27.1 points per game as a senior.

The first-year head coach of Santa Fe Christian and the all-time leading scorer at the University of San Diego.
Caden Doucette

Jake Hall
Dax Hall's older brother, who was the San Diego Section Player of the Year in 2023-24 at Carlsbad High School and is now a freshman at the University of New Mexico.
What they’re saying
“Dax is the best player in the county, and his ability to score stands out. But he's also unselfish. What sets him apart is that he makes those around him better.”
— Curtis Hofmeister, Mission Hills basketball coach
“Dax understands that he can't win a game, win a championship, by himself. He's a special player with an incredible basketball IQ. He shoots the 3, runs the floor, rebounds, but he's also the best leader I've been around. He knows how to make his teammates better, make them accountable without being arrogant or bossy.”
— Johnny Dee, Santa Fe Christian head coach
“I love the way my brother plays the game. I tried to get him to play with me at Carlsbad, but we grew up in the SFC community, and he was locked in.”
— Jake Hall
What’s next
The judge in the case will decide on Tuesday whether or not to allow Walker Reed Quinn out on bail.
The takeaway
This case highlights growing concerns in the community about repeat offenders released on bail, raising questions about bail reform, public safety on SF streets, and if any special laws to govern autonomous vehicles in residential and commercial areas.
