David confirmed the show will be released later this year and that Curtis will still have the same tone as he did in the original series. The spinoff is being co-created by Rick and Morty mastermind Dan Harmon and James Siciliano.

Keith David, who has played President Curtis in the Rick and Morty series since the "Get Schwifty" episode in season 2, has confirmed that the upcoming spinoff series centered on the character will be released "later on this year." David also shared that the tone of the spinoff will still largely match that of the mainline show, saying that Curtis "is still the same President that left you" on the Adult Swim hit.
