Dateline Identifies Large Carbonatite Targets at Colosseum Project
Geophysical surveys and drilling confirm rare earth potential of California project

Dateline Resources Limited has completed a comprehensive analysis of geophysical and geochemical data at its Colosseum Project in California, identifying three distinct carbonatite targets with the potential to host rare earth element mineralization. Drilling has confirmed the presence of a mantle-derived REE system, and the company is now preparing a 12-hole diamond drill program to test the highest priority targets.
Why it matters
The Colosseum Project is located less than 10km from the Mountain Pass rare earth mine, one of the few major REE deposits outside of China. Identifying a potential new carbonatite-hosted REE system in the region could be a significant discovery, providing diversification of supply for critical rare earth elements.
The details
Dateline's analysis combined gravity, magnetics, radiometrics, induced polarization, and magnetotellurics data to define three main target areas. Target 1, the Clark Mountain Fault Zone, is the highest priority, showing coincident geophysical anomalies and geochemical indicators of a preserved carbonatite system at depth. Drilling at the edge of this target intersected a rare earth element halo, confirming the presence of a mantle-derived REE system. Targets 2 and 3 also show promising geophysical signatures and will be tested in the upcoming 12-hole diamond drill program.
- In late 2025, drill hole RC25-038 intersected anomalous rare earth elements, the first drill-based confirmation of REE at the Colosseum Project.
- In February 2026, Dateline announced the results of the integrated geophysical and geochemical analysis, defining the three main carbonatite targets.
- Dateline is now preparing a 12-hole diamond drill program to test the highest priority targets, with drilling expected to commence in the coming months.
The players

What they’re saying
“The completion of the integrated high-resolution datasets has given us a level of confidence in our targeting that we have not had before. Two well-defined targets, twelve holes, and a third zone in the 2200N anomaly that we are continuing to work on. We are advancing this project methodically and the technical foundations are strong.”
— Stephen Baghdadi, Managing Director, Dateline Resources Limited
“Importantly, RC25-038 is an important result, being the first drill-based confirmation of rare earth elements at Colosseum. It carries additional weight, given where it sits on the margin of what is now our highest-priority carbonatite target.”
— Stephen Baghdadi, Managing Director, Dateline Resources Limited
What’s next
Dateline is preparing a 12-hole diamond drill program to test the Clark Mountain Fault Zone (Target 1) and Eastern Gravity (Target 2) anomalies, with drilling expected to commence in the coming months.
The takeaway
The Colosseum Project's proximity to the Mountain Pass rare earth mine and the confirmation of a mantle-derived REE system through drilling make it a highly promising exploration target, with the potential to contribute to the diversification of critical rare earth supply outside of China.
