The Warriors' scouting staff will be closely watching the NCAA men's Final Four, looking for potential draft targets to bolster their championship roster.Today in SacramentoThe Golden State Warriors are currently the 10th seed in the Western Conference, which would give them the 11th pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. While they may not be in contention for the top prospects, each of the four teams in the NCAA men's Final Four features a player who could realistically be available when the Warriors make their selection.
Why it matters
The Warriors are looking to maximize the final years of their championship core, which includes Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, and Kristaps Porzingis. Adding a talented young player from the Final Four could help bolster their roster and provide depth for their title run.
The details
The four players the Warriors could target are: Brayden Burries, a 6'4" shooting guard from Arizona; Keaton Wagler, a combo guard from Illinois; Braylon Mullins, a 6'6" shooting guard from UConn; and Yaxel Lendeborg, a 6'9" center from Michigan. Each of these players has stood out in the NCAA tournament and could fit well with the Warriors' needs and playing style.
- The NBA Draft Lottery will take place on May 10, 2026.
- The 2026 NBA Draft is scheduled for June 26, 2026.
The players
Brayden Burries
A 6'4" shooting guard from Arizona who scored a CIF State Championship record 44 points in a win last March. As a freshman, he is averaging 16.1 points per game for the Wildcats.
Keaton Wagler
A combo guard from Illinois who owns the best single-game performance in college basketball this year, scoring 46 points in an upset over then-No. 4 Purdue. He is shooting 40.7% from 3-point range and averaging 4.3 assists per game.
Braylon Mullins
A 6'6" shooting guard from UConn who hit a 35-foot 3-pointer with 0.3 seconds left to complete an improbable comeback over top seed Duke in the Elite 8.
Yaxel Lendeborg
A 6'9" center from Michigan who is a consensus All-American. He averages 3.2 assists per game and could provide depth and playmaking in the middle for the Warriors.
What they’re saying
“Mike was there, and that's obviously his job, but when I watch college games I try to envision what a guy would look like (in the NBA).”
— Steve Kerr, Warriors Head Coach
What’s next
The Warriors will learn their draft position at the NBA Draft Lottery on May 10, 2026, before making their selection in the 2026 NBA Draft on June 26, 2026.
The takeaway
The Warriors have a chance to add a talented young player from the NCAA men's Final Four to their championship core, which could help them maximize the final years of their veteran stars and continue their quest for more titles.
