A man was arrested and transported to the hospital after a brief pursuit and standoff on Highway 80 that led to the temporary closure of westbound traffic on Friday morning. California Highway Patrol officers said the man was driving recklessly, including throwing items out of his car, in Truckee around 7:52 a.m. Officers pursued the driver, eventually stopping him with a spike strip about 30 miles west on Highway 80 near Nyack and Whitmore.
