The Red Bluff High School Varsity Girls' soccer team has earned a 4th seed in the NSCIF D1 Girls Soccer Playoffs. The Spartans will host (12-4-3) at 3 PM on Thursday. It will be the second meeting between the two schools this year, the first being a 1-0 victory by Red Bluff (13-7-4) on December 18 over the Thunderbirds.

Why it matters

The Spartans' playoff berth continues the school's strong tradition in girls soccer, as they look to make a deep postseason run against some of the top teams in the Northern Section.

The details

If the Spartans defeat the Thunderbirds, they will travel to play the top seed Pleasant Valley on February 24. Red Bluff lost to Pleasant Valley 5-0 on Friday night to finish off the regular season. The Vikings finished the season 10-0 in Eastern Athletic League play, finishing with their best record in league play since 2012-13 (10-1-1). Foothill (11-4-6) will host Corning (14-6-1), and the winner of that game will play at second-seed Shasta on the 24th.
