Rancho Santa Fe residents Jim Dickson and Delair Alnajjar are opening Casa La Granada, a new six-bed assisted living and memory care home, next month. The small residential facility will offer 24-hour care, meals, and assistance with daily activities in a beautiful village setting with golf course views. Dickson and Alnajjar, who are longtime friends, have worked to create a home-like environment with personalized care for residents.
Why it matters
As the Baby Boomer generation continues to age, there is a growing need for senior housing options that provide a more intimate, home-like setting compared to larger assisted living facilities. Casa La Granada aims to fill this niche in the Rancho Santa Fe community, which has limited senior housing options within the village.
The details
Casa La Granada will be licensed as a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) and have 24/7 staffing with a high caregiver-to-resident ratio. The one-story home has been updated to meet fire safety standards and includes features like grab bars, emergency lighting, and locking cabinets to accommodate memory care patients. Residents will be able to personalize their rooms and enjoy amenities like a putting green, pool, and recreational space.
- Casa La Granada is set to open and welcome its first residents on March 1, 2026.
- The partners spent the last two years developing the residential concept and preparing the home for opening.

What they’re saying
“I've always had this passion to open up an assisted living home in a small setting. We started the home care agency to support that, to grow a team of good caregivers, meet people in the industry and start helping people in their home. If there's anyway to keep them at home, that's the goal. But if for various reasons they can't be there, we want to have an option for them as well.”
— Delair Alnajjar, Co-founder, Casa La Granada
“People typically start entering the system of senior housing around 80, so the first batch of Baby Boomers turns 80 this year. It's about 10,000 people every day that are entering that group. It makes sense that there's a lot of activity going on in senior services and senior housing space.”

What’s next
Casa La Granada is currently undergoing final inspections and expects to receive its license to open and welcome its first residents on March 1, 2026.
The takeaway
As the Rancho Santa Fe community faces a growing need for senior housing options, Casa La Granada aims to provide a personalized, home-like setting for assisted living and memory care residents. The small-scale facility represents an innovative approach to senior care that could be replicated in other neighborhoods.
