Pasadena Humane is hosting a two-hour culinary workshop on Thursday, January 29 that will teach adult participants (ages 18 and up) how to prepare nutritious, tasty, and budget-friendly homemade dog treats and meal toppers using an induction cooktop and air fryer. The class, called "Pawsitive Delights: Dog Treats & Meal Topper Class for Adults", is open to cooks of all skill levels and may include recipes containing nut butters. A similar teen-focused class is scheduled for February 5.
Why it matters
The workshop aims to provide pet owners with supplemental treat ideas and recipes to enhance their dogs' regular diets in a cost-effective way. Pasadena Humane, a local nonprofit animal welfare organization, is offering these classes as part of its ongoing efforts to support the community and promote responsible pet ownership.
The details
During the two-hour class, attendees will learn how to prepare homemade, dog-friendly snacks and meal toppers. Pasadena Humane notes that the recipes taught are intended as supplements to a dog's primary balanced diet, not as a replacement. The class may contain nut butters, which some dogs may be allergic to, so pet owners should check with their veterinarian before feeding their dogs any new ingredients.
- The "Pawsitive Delights: Dog Treats & Meal Topper Class for Adults" will be held on Thursday, January 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- A similar class for teens ages 13 to 17 is scheduled for February 5 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The players
Pasadena Humane
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides animal care and control services for local cities. Pasadena Humane continues recovery efforts following its response to a January wildfire near Eaton Canyon, during which it took in nearly 1,000 animals and achieved more than 1,000 successful reunifications.
The takeaway
These dog treat cooking classes offered by Pasadena Humane provide a valuable opportunity for pet owners to learn how to make nutritious, budget-friendly snacks for their canine companions, helping to supplement their dogs' regular diets in a responsible and enriching way.
