Sierra Roots, a Nevada County-based nonprofit, will open an emergency weather shelter from February 16-18, 2026 in response to forecasted overnight temperatures at or below 32 degrees. The shelter, located at the Veterans Hall in Nevada City, will provide a warm indoor space, blankets, hot meals, and basic supplies to support the health and safety of community members in need of protection from the dangerous weather.
