The Xavier Musketeers have landed a commitment from LSU transfer center Mike Nwoko. Nwoko, a 6-foot-10, 261-pound forward, is a veteran with SEC experience, having started 61 games over the last two seasons at Mississippi State and LSU. He averaged a career-high 13.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game for LSU last season, shooting 61% from the field.
Why it matters
Nwoko's addition provides much-needed experience and physicality in the frontcourt for Xavier, which had inconsistent play at the center position last season. His rebounding and interior scoring will help bolster Xavier's roster as they look to build on their recent success.
The details
Nwoko entered the transfer portal after one season at LSU, where he set career highs in points, rebounds, and field goal percentage. Prior to LSU, he spent a year at Mississippi State. Nwoko will be Xavier's fourth stop in four collegiate seasons, having started his career at Miami. He is a native of Toronto, Ontario and has represented Canada in FIBA youth competitions.
