Wines That Rock, a partnership between rock business management firm RZO and the Mendocino Wine Company, has launched three new wines featuring classic rock album artwork on the labels: Forty Licks Merlot, Woodstock Chardonnay, and The Dark Side of the Moon Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines aim to appeal to rock music fans while also highlighting the company's sustainable farming practices and use of green power.
Why it matters
This is not the first attempt to combine wine and rock music, as other wine producers have also marketed wines with familiar rock imagery on the labels. However, Wines That Rock's partnership with RZO and focus on eco-friendly practices sets it apart and could help the brand resonate with a new generation of rock fans interested in supporting sustainable products.
The details
The wines sell for around $17 per bottle, $50 for a three-pack, and discounted prices for six-packs and cases. Currently, the wines are only available through the Wines That Rock website, but the company plans to expand to retail distribution in 2010. In addition to the three new releases, the Mendocino Wine Company also features other wines with rock-inspired labels, such as Big Yellow Cab, Tusk'N Red, and Zig Zag Zin.
