Pacific Electric, a new 750-capacity music venue in downtown Los Angeles, is the brainchild of Ben Lovett, keyboardist and songwriter for Mumford and Sons. After six years in the making, the club has opened its doors with the goal of not just hosting concerts, but also kickstarting a broader cultural revival in the largely underdeveloped area near the L.A. River and Chinatown.
Why it matters
Los Angeles has long been underserved when it comes to mid-sized music venues, with a gap between smaller clubs and larger theaters. Pacific Electric aims to fill that void, providing a platform for emerging artists to reach new audiences while also serving as a catalyst for economic and cultural development in a neighborhood ripe for revitalization.
The details
The 750-capacity Pacific Electric occupies a former warehouse space that Lovett and his team have transformed into a modern yet warm performance hall, complete with a proscenium arch, brick walls, and a wrap-around balcony. In addition to the main auditorium, the venue features thoughtfully designed backstage areas, bathrooms, and other amenities intended to elevate the experience for both performers and patrons. Lovett, who has a decade of experience operating independent music venues across the U.S., is also opening several complementary food and drink concepts adjacent to the club to help create a broader cultural hub in the area.

What they’re saying
“If you're the kind of person who's here on such short notice, then you're also the kind of person who's probably going to be here a lot. So I look forward to all of us being able to share this together.”
— Taylor Goldsmith, Frontman, Dawes
“Building spaces matters on that front, I think. It's thinking about 20, 40, 60 years from now, and are they still gonna be there? Are they gonna stand the test of time?”
— Ben Lovett, Musician, Tvg Hospitality
“I really hope that this is heavily used by local artists looking to establish their craft. Because it's 750-capacity, it's the perfect size for you to springboard into the next chapter of your career.”
— Ben Lovett, Musician, Tvg Hospitality
What’s next
Lovett and his team plan to continue activating the surrounding neighborhood with the opening of several complementary food and drink concepts in the coming months, further establishing Pacific Electric as a cultural hub for the area.
The takeaway
Pacific Electric represents an ambitious effort to not just open a new music venue, but to serve as a catalyst for revitalizing an underutilized part of downtown Los Angeles. By creating a multi-faceted cultural destination, Lovett hopes to inspire a new generation of artists and entrepreneurs to invest in the neighborhood's future.
