The French Comedy Club, a weekend-long showcase of French intellectual properties, is returning to Los Angeles for its sixth edition on March 21-22 at the Lumière Cinema in Beverly Hills. The event, created by Olivier Albou and Laurence Schonberg of sales and production house Other Angle, will feature hit French comedies that have not yet been released theatrically in the U.S. but have strong remake potential.

Why it matters

Many successful French comedies that perform well in Europe often fail to cross over to the U.S. market, despite their potential for successful remakes. The French Comedy Club aims to bridge that gap by introducing American producers, agents, and buyers to these films and facilitating remake deals.

The details

This year's lineup includes four high-concept French comedies: 'Cycle of Time,' a time-traveling comedy; 'La Comédie Française,' set inside the famous theater institution; 'The Infiltrator,' about a clumsy police officer going undercover; and 'The Marsupilami,' based on a popular graphic novel. Past films showcased at the event that have led to remake deals include 'A Little Something Extra,' 'Retirement Home,' 'The Midwife,' 'Blind Date,' 'Marguerite's Theorem,' and 'Babysitting.'

  • The French Comedy Club will take place on March 21-22, 2026 in Los Angeles.
  • 'Cycle of Time' was released in France and sold nearly 900,000 admissions.
  • 'The Marsupilami' is currently the highest-grossing French film of 2026 with over 5.3 million theatrical admissions.
