The Los Angeles Rams have promoted from within, naming Nate Scheelhaase and Dave Ragone as the team's new co-offensive coordinators. Scheelhaase previously served as the Rams' passing game coordinator, while Ragone was the quarterbacks coach. The moves come after former offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur left to become the head coach of the NFC West rival Arizona Cardinals.
Why it matters
The Rams are looking to build on their recent success, which includes a Super Bowl championship, by promoting two experienced offensive coaches from within the organization. Scheelhaase and Ragone will be tasked with continuing to get the most out of star quarterback Matthew Stafford and the team's talented offensive weapons like wide receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams.
The details
Scheelhaase, 35, joined the Rams in 2024 after serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Iowa State. Ragone, 46, also came to the Rams in 2024 after spending three seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons. The two will now share play-calling duties and work together to guide the Rams' offense.
