LA County Unveils Upgraded Permit Dashboard for Wildfire Rebuilding

The new dashboard provides real-time data on the status of over 12,000 rebuilding projects following devastating 2025 wildfires.

Los Angeles County has updated its Permitting Progress Dashboard to provide more detailed and accessible information on the status of over 12,000 rebuilding projects in the aftermath of the destructive Palisades and Eaton wildfires in 2025. The dashboard now features color-coded data visualizations tracking projects through various permitting and construction phases, allowing residents to easily check the status of their own properties.

Why it matters

The permit process has been a major point of frustration for many wildfire survivors trying to rebuild their homes and businesses. This upgraded dashboard aims to bring more transparency and accountability to the rebuilding effort, which has been complicated by the sheer scale of destruction and the need to navigate local government bureaucracy.

The details

The Permitting Progress Dashboard is refreshed every three hours and provides data on the status of over 12,000 rebuilding projects across seven different phases. As of February 19th, 52% of projects with ongoing construction are under inspection, and the same number of applications under review have been returned with comments for Eaton property owners. In Pacific Palisades, 64% of projects with ongoing construction are under inspection and 67% of applications under review have been returned with comments. The dashboard also highlights the significant number of accessory dwelling unit (ADU) applications, with almost 400 under review and over 100 more in the pipeline.

  • The Palisades and Eaton wildfires occurred in January 2025, destroying over 16,000 structures and killing 31 people.
  • The initial permit dashboard was launched in January 2025 to track the rebuilding process.
  • The updated and expanded dashboard was unveiled two months ago, in December 2025.
